Filling Homes' clients and staff know that with summer comes all kinds of outdoor activities and have come to anticipate the annual coffee stop of the Veteran Motors Car Club of America, Defiance Chapter!

On June 13, the VMCCA rolled in for coffee and some breakfast treats to Filling Homes' Therapy Center, and we welcomed them with hospitality!

Dave and Esther Plassman of Napoleon have coordinated this event for the past five years bringing between 10 and 20 historical vehicles that we take our pictures with and enjoy seeing and learning about.

Some of us remember seeing our parents or grandparents driving cars like these when we were kids. What great memories they bring to mind! We are thankful to them for sharing their time and antique treasures every year!

Filling Homes will be able to resurface the floors of all three locker rooms in the Therapy Center and have a start on the floor in the gymnasium thanks to the incredible $15,209 raised by the Thrivent Community – Wayne Park Associates and Designer Purse Bingo!

On April 20th of this year, Thrivent Financial, represented by the Wayne Park group of David C. Crandall, Matt Crandall, Caitlyn Badenhop, Marcia Gobrogge, and Jen Butler, hosted a Designer Purse Bingo at the Filling Homes Community Center.
The event drew more than 275 people to play bingo, enjoy Leisure Time wine, win great prizes, and raise money for Filling Homes….and that it did!

We are deeply grateful for the hard work and creativity of the Thrivent Community-Wayne Park Associates and the generous contributions of Glenn and Pat Alexander, Karen Kemper, Deb Bergstedt, Ann Overhulse and Andy Barthel and all who attended for making this fun and successful event possible.

Oldcastle

Oldcastle Precast is a producer of plastic molded products in Napoleon. Late last year, this Napoleon plant was awarded funding to complete a community building project to benefit a local nonprofit organization. Oldcastle chose Filling Homes!

After only six weeks of work, Filling Homes Community Center, located at 470 Independence Dr., Napoleon, now has an outdoor area with ample room to take a walk or just sit back and enjoy a roasted marshmallow. The project included the pouring of a sidewalk around the entire perimeter of the building, which now provides safe access for outdoor walking for community walkers and Day Service participants. It has also enlarged the existing patio and added a built-in, gas firepit, a raised planter box, and a low perimeter wall. The result is magnificent!

Oldcastle Napoleon’s proposal was one of four projects selected for funding from among the submissions made by Oldcastle Precast’s facilities nationwide. The total cost for the project was $20,000! We are so thankful to Oldcastle Precast and the Napoleon employees for their hard work and determination to give this fantastic gift to our community.

“I’m a Filling Homes employee. What’s YOUR SuperPower?"

Super Hero Week

(an employee appreciation event)

June 26 - 29, 2017

Courage, care, commitment, creativity, compassion……these are just a few of the super qualities of Filling Homes’ staff, and we are thankful for their willingness to use their powers for GOOD!

For that reason, we are once again planning a week to celebrate and appreciate ALL of the talent employed to carry out Filling Homes' mission to people with developmental disabilities. Without the dedication of these super humans, the mission could never be accomplished! The "Super Hero” theme this year so appropriately speaks to the super strength of these individuals who give so much time and energy to the 24/7 support of our clients and residents.

This is what’s coming…

We are also thankful to all who support us in our efforts to appreciate our employees properly!

If you have an interest in contributing to appreciating Filling Homes' staff, please contact Amy Rosebrock at 419-592-6451 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
