Fulfilling Day Means Fulfilling Needs

St Paul’s Lutheran Church Napoleon Township was at it again! The drive of this very active congregation to see a need and take action is unstoppable! After spending a day last Fall completing projects at Filling Homes’ Base Facility and a Community Living Home, St Paul’s Lutheran decided to take on the Filling Homes Community Center located on Independence Dr in Napoleon!

Since the gifting of the old skating rink to Filling Homes by the Society for the Handicapped in 2015, projects to modify, maintain and update the Filling Homes Community Center have been in progress. With two major outdoor projects pending, St Paul’s Lutheran decided to tackle a major indoor project—painting!

On Saturday morning, March 25, some 30 members of the Missions Ministry Committee of St Paul’s Lutheran Napoleon Twp arrived at FHCC outfitted in Thrivent t-shirts, sponsor of the this community project, and armed with paint rollers, brushes and cans and set to work prepping and painting the interior walls of the building. The new, light gray, color freshens and brightens the space perfectly. In normal Fulfilling Day fashion, the group involved people of all ages and abilities in this project to benefit Filling Homes, so sewing machines were also brought in to allow some ladies the opportunity to sew clothing protectors for the residents, and all the fixin’s for Easter baskets were brought in to allow the children of the crew to handle the candy and create beautiful gifts for area nursing homes as another part of St Paul’s outreach mission.
