"Recognizing that we are all created in God's image, our mission is to support people with mental retardation and other disabilities to reach their greatest level of independence in a caring communmity of respect, dignity and partnership."

Filling Home is a Lutheran-affiliated, non-profit, faith-based provider of services for individuals with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities and their families.

Founded in 1959 by Mrs. Carrie Filling Vajen in honor of her family, Filling Home grew out of the Filling families sincere Christian desire to provide a place of refuge and care for those individuals with disabilities who would find it difficult to receive care anywhere else. Carrie Filling Vajen donated the Filling family homestead to be used as the site for this home, plus farmland to help support it.

Located two miles south of Napoleon, Ohio on State Route 108, the facility has grown through four major additions and several remodelings and expansions, the most recent being a new Therapy Center which was dedicated in October 2005.

Individuals have a wide range of abilities and require different levels of support. Filling Home tailors our services to meet a person's distinct needs, requirements and wishes. Our services range from 24/7 residential care to only a few hours a week of supervision and assistance with regular household tasks within a person's own home or apartment. It is our commitment to provide the highest quality of services that will ensure a peron's health, safety, and well-being, with the greatest degree of independence and personal choice.

Individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilites have the right to make choices and decisions which affect their lives, as well as the right to participate as a member of their community. Filling Home seeks to value and support these choices by providing residential services designed to promote community awareness and acceptance of all its members.
